Jeffco Interfaith Partners (JIP) originated in 1998 as Jeffco Partners for Interfaith Action, a coalition of local congregations which engaged in a variety of social projects and held interfaith services 2-3 times a year. The coalition worked primarily with Foothills Green, a subsidized housing community in Lakewood, but soon the focus shifted to partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver.
At that time, our name changed to West Metro Habitat Interfaith Coalition, and we began sponsoring a Habitat newbuild each year. Sponsorship entails fundraising and volunteer labor, both of which our coalition provides. Pumpkin patches (One in Lakewood, one in Arvada) became our primary fundraising vehicle in the mid-2000s. To date, we have sponsored 21 Habitat houses in West Metro Denver.
In 2019, the coalition’s name changed to Jeffco Interfaith Partners when we incorporated as a 501c3 non-profit.
